Title:    Survey Tech/Estimator Assistant

 

Overview:

 

Ulland Brothers, Inc., a heavy-highway, aggregate, and site development contractor.  The Survey Tech/Estimator Assistant is primarily responsible for surveys, GPS support, and will assist in the preparation of cost estimates and project management throughout the construction process.  The Survey Tech/Estimator Assistant must exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Field:

     

    1. GPS setup for projects
    2. GPS training for other employees
    3. Care and upkeep of the GPS equipment
    4. Tracking of the GPS equipment
    5. Site layout as required
    6. Drawing of final as-built and red-line drawings
    7. Control of expendable items and materials

     

    Office:

     

    1. Quantity takeoffs
    2. Attend pre-bid meetings
    3. Material coordination
    4. Subcontractor coordination at bid time
    5. Assist in the assembly of estimates
    6. Assist with close-out at bid time
    7. Delivery of bids and proposals
    8. Post-bid follow up

     

 

 

Personal Development:

Take an active role in trade and professional associations

Attend industry related training and self-development programs

 

Education:

Engineering Tech, Survey Tech, or Construction Management degree preferred

 

Qualifications:

Working knowledge of GPS Software preferred

Experience using Excel, Word and Outlook.

Motivated self-starter

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to maintain positive relationships with employees, owners, engineers, etc.

Ability to multi task

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

A basic understanding of earthwork, utilities, site design, plans, specs, etc.

Previous work experience in a similar position preferred

Clean driving record preferred

Travel required
