Position Description:

The Estimator is a partner for providing responsive solutions to enhance the overall success of the ASDCO Construction Supply. Safely provide assistance with all facets of ASDCO projects in varying stages of the Estimating process. Risk management, estimating, system design assistance, preparation of proposals and work scopes, equipment and material processing, paperwork, customer submittals and other day-to-day functions as required. Assist in maintaining/promoting customer relations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand project details and provide complex cost estimates and proposals, with overall goal to provide solutions for customer projects.
  • Obtain and maintain a strong knowledge of construction materials concepts and business operations.
  • Actively maintain and adjust workload, work hours, and schedule to maintain department workflow as requirements change.
  • Provide assistance to Business Development and construction team during all project phases.
  • Evaluate offers to purchase by costing changes, additions and back log requirements.
  • Obtains bids from vendors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors and negotiating price
  • Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Prepare paperwork as required (PO’s, submittals, etc.).
  • Work with Business Development, Sales Reps and customers collaboratively.
  • Aggressively perform continuous self-study to maintain a competitive edge in the industry and company’s standards, practices and product lines. 
  • Assist in providing direction and support Business Development and Sales Rep, as needed.
  • Other duties as required

Education / Experience 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ construction / construction supply experience
  • 3 years estimating experience
  • Working knowledge of construction materials and application techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite products and typing skills necessary. 
  • Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and communicate effectively with others 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid State Driver’s License

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.   
  • The environmental conditions for this position include climate controlled indoor activity to inclement outdoor extremes of cold, heat, dust, wind and various forms of precipitation when on customer project locations, which may include exposure to a variety of noise and equipment vibration.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in warehouse and/or specific customer environment. PPE required when in the plant, yard or construction areas include:
  • Hard Hat
  • Safety Glasses / Goggles
  • Reflective Vest
  • Hearing Protection (designated areas)
