Position Description:

The primary responsibilities of this position include purchasing and making solid sourcing decisions for our business while collaborating across ASDCO locations. This position builds strong relationships with suppliers, as well as with the company’s sales and pricing teams. The Purchasing Lead is a self-starter, works autonomously, and in teams, seeks information necessary for business recommendations and decisions. Shares information with leader and branch locations as needed. This individual will impact the business by growing sales, market share and overall profitability. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads weekly purchasing meetings to strengthen communication of purchasing agents at ASDCO Branches.
  • Manages and resolves issues related to damaged inventory, freight claims, RMA’s and vendor credits when escalated from branch location.
  • Coordinates with leaders to develop and implement procedures for organizing and sharing purchasing information company-wide.
  • Assists with supplier selection and negotiation process for cash discounts, volume purchasing and pricing, as well as other vendor incentives.
  • Works with Warehouse Manager and other branch personnel to ensure appropriate seasonal stock levels
  • Uploading and tracking current vendor pricing, specials, quotes, freight allowances
  • Prepare freight quotes for inbound shipments to ensure best pricing on stock inventory
  • Maintain invoices to ensure all early pay discounts are met and resolve invoices within 14 days.
  • Negotiating bulk buys, truckload discounts, prepaid freight and other allowances with vendor for best pricing.
  • Ensure accurate inventory counts before restocking inventory items
  • Maintains list of suppliers and contact information for assigned vendors
  • Tracks and updates expiring and at risk inventory, and inventory write-offs
  • Prepare, lead and assist branches with reconciling annual inventory
  • Other duties as required

Education / Experience 

  • Two years’ experience with inventory management systems, processes and supply chain logistics
  • Excellent computers skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, including report generation.
  • Working knowledge of business economics. Ability to analyze information gathered in order to identify issues or discrepancies.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple demands
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Clearly communicate with outside vendors/manufacturers as well as the internal team.
