MMC is looking for a dedicated and driven safety professional to join our team.  Your role will be to identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage.  You, while reporting to the Safety Director, will use your knowledge of safety standards, best management practices, and analytical techniques to achieve this goal. 

Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Conduct new hire safety orientations
  • Train staff in required safety program and compliance training
  • Conduct site-wide safety inspection walks
  • Monitor safety performance of all MMC and subcontractor personnel
  • Stop work in an area to remedy a serious or life-threatening safety deficiency
  • Review and enforce all areas of the site safety plan with both MMC and subcontractor personnel
  • Attend and participate in weekly meetings and report on safety issues observed
  • Ensure and maintain all required signage is properly posted
  • Ensure all accidents and incidents requiring more than immediate first aid are reported immediately to the MMC superintendent
  • Assist with preparing the site in the event of an OSHA inspection
  • Provide daily written documentation of safety deficiencies found and assign the necessary corrective action to be the responsible party and give them a completion date for corrective action
  • Assist the MMC field office manager (FOM) with the tracking and filing of all subcontractor submittals (i.e. SDS, written HAZ-com programs, sub-combined letters, tool box meeting sign-in sheets, daily equipment inspection sheets, daily scaffold inspection sheets, daily excavation reports, etc.)
  • Advise the MMC job team regarding the need for disciplinary action against a subcontractor employee or company
  • Take digital pictures of work site safety violations and provide subcontractor with corrective action notices
  • Install and inspect fire extinguishers and ensure they are places in accessible locations and readily visible for all workers
  • Ensure MMC hot work procedures are followed when performing cutting and welding
  • Maintain site specific SDS log book or update web page as necessary
  • Lead incident investigations, write detailed reports and present findings to upper management

Qualifications and Experience

  • A commitment to zero and a belief that we can achieve zero injuries.
  • Knowledge of safety practices in the construction and engineering field
  • Relevant college degree in occupational safety and specialized training or equivalent work experience in construction or engineering safety, and/or CHST, SST, CSP, ASP, OSHA 500, or similar certification/training
  • General knowledge of software, specifically Microsoft Office products (MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in the construction safety environment
