Job Summary:


GEI’s New York office is seeking a Sr Architect for an immediate need. The Sr Architect is a strategic role for GEI and will provide vision, direction, and leadership for all aspects of architectural services in New York, and other locations, based on project needs. In this role, the selected candidate will have an opportunity to expand and grow our various practices while leading high-profile projects, including building envelopes design, failure investigation, NYC FISP inspection and reports, and other exciting work.

Our New York office has a specific focus on professional services in structural design, architectural / facade design, construction administration, testing and instrumentation, evaluation and restoration of building facades / building envelopes, feasibility studies and reports, forensic engineering, structural failure investigation of distressed structures, and litigation support. Our clients include architectural firms, builders, contractors, private clients, and government agencies across the US and overseas.


Essential Responsibilities & Duties:


• Great communication skills

• Responsible for producing project documentation
• Prepares design drawings, construction drawings and presentation documents
• Applies knowledge of architectural principles and practices
• Understands sustainable design concepts and able to integrate with work at hand
• Applies architectural concepts and designs with the support of more experienced staff
• Experience with Autodesk Revit in modeling and project documentation - a plus
• Prepares project specifications. Prepare technical reports
• Ability to self-direct and self-regulate required
• Excellent communication skills required
• Responsible for documenting as-built conditions and reviewing repair work on both supported scaffold and suspended scaffold.
• 70% Office work and 30% field work. (or some variation)

Minimum Requirements:


• A Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent
• Licensed Architect in New York – or another US state with a reciprocity option
• Approximately 6 - 10 years’ US experience in facade rehabilitation, roofing, waterproofing, windows and specifications
• Experience with Revit or other specialized design tools - a plus
• Able to understand project needs and respond in an efficient and logical manner
• The desire to work in a team-based project environment
