We are currently looking for an Project Manager to join our team.  The Project Manager is responsible for activities throughout project lifecycle, including support of quality control and safety. Includes the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, required documentation, budget, and other factors necessary for success. Prepare project proposals and budgets as required. Maintains solid customer relationships.  The position requires a technical aptitude and an attention to detail with a primary focus project timelines and budgets.  Experience in manufacturing specific to pulp, paper, wood products, dust collection, industrial HVAC, or Air Heaters is preferred. Projects can require extensive travel at times. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish project goals and timelines for each awarded project, defining objectives, risks, assumptions, staffing levels, roles and responsibilities, work breakdown, milestones and deliverables.
  • Manage project throughout start-up requirements.
  • Manage administrative project requirement including securing building permits, code compliance, and other requirements as required.
  • Prepare budgets, estimates, construction schedules, progress and monthly reports.
  • Attend project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as required.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis, risk analysis, and ROI calculations to determine project feasibility.
  • Conduct and manage site meetings, RFI’s, invoices, change orders and control document process.
  • Track all project costs to ensure completion within budget.
  • Oversee the preparation and finalization of contractor/trade contracts, ensuring all issues are resolved and dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Manage a variety of stakeholders including site superintendents, sub-trades, designers, estimators, and GC’s.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts within project teams and create contingency plans to mitigate risk.
  • Ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures and standard are adhered to at all times, including ensuring that safe practices are being followed during site visits.
  • Maintain relationships with customers and regulatory counterparts.
  • Actively participate in programs, policies and initiatives designed to enhance the overall good of the company and parent corporation.

Education / Experience:

  • Four-year engineering degree and a minimum of three years’ commercial or industrial construction experience, OR post high school technical training and a minimum of five years’ commercial or industrial construction experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing specific to pulp, paper, wood products, power and utility, dust collection, industrial HVAC, or air systems is preferred.     
  • Working knowledge of industrial construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite products and typing skills.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and collaborate effectively with others.

  • This position requires travel, up to 90% of the time, to project location as needed. Most travel is planned based on project schedule with advance notice, some long term projects, although may require short notice to travel to job sites.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Walking includes moving within a project site, including uneven surface/ground.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires climbing, lifting, reaching and grasping.
  • The environmental conditions for this position include climate controlled indoor activity to inclement outdoor extremes of cold, heat, dust, wind and various forms of precipitation. Exposure to a variety of noise and equipment vibration.
  • Position is often in a heavy manufacturing/industrial area and may require up to 75% time on the shop floor.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in plant environment. PPE required when in the plant, yard or construction areas include:
    • Hard Hat
    • Safety Glasses / Goggles
    • Steel-toed Boots
    • Reflective Vest
    • Hearing Protection (designated areas)
