Dimensional Inspector

ADF International in Great Falls, Montana is currently hiring for a Dimensional Inspector for their steel fabrication plant.  Dimensional Inspectors proper placement of steel components prior to welding, to ensure compliance with the shop drawings and job specifications.

Hours:

Night Shift:  Monday thru Thursday 4:30pm - 3:00am

Swing Shift: Monday thru Thursday 10:00am - 8:00pm

$18-20 per hour

Duties Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Dimensional inspection of steel pieces after assembly is completed
  • Inspection of welding preparations and of tack welds during assembly operations
  • Inspection report writing
  • Recording and following-up on non-conformances related to dimensional inspection
  • Updating dimensional inspection progress in the system
  • Interpretation of plans, specifications and standards
  • Calibration and updating, in the system, of all the tools required to perform dimensional inspection activities
  • Inspect the structure’s geometry (if applicable)
  • Comply with safety rules
  • Follow Corporate quality procedures, work instructions or fabrication standards
  • Any other related tasks

 

Education/Training and Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
  • 5 or more years’ experience in fabrication; interpreting blueprints

 

 

Key Technical Skills/Abilities:

    • Knowledge in welding, metallurgy, and steel fabrication
    • Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and sequencing
    • Extensive knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints
    • Ability to read and interpret codes, drawings and specifications related to the contract
    • Strict adherence to company and job specific requirements (dimensional tolerances)
    • Ability to pass AWS visual acuity test
    • Ability to use standard measuring tools, tape measure, squares, welding gauges
    • Ability to interpret measurements in US Standard and Metric
    • Physical ability to perform inspection
