Production Technicians will perform laborer or operator functions as it is assigned for production of industrial coating.
Schedule: Days - Monday through Thursday 06:00am - 3:15pm and Friday 06:00am - 11:00am
Nights - Monday through Thursday 3:15pm - 1:45am
$13 per hour starting with a .50 cent differential on nights
Duties Summary/Responsibilities:
• Report to Foreman
• Obtain proper supplies to perform the work according to project requirements
• Performs steel preparation (grinding, cleaning, trimming) in order to ensure cleanliness of the pieces to be painted according to coating instructions
• Perform solvent cleaning as per SSPC-SP1
• Perform manual abrasive blasting as per SSPC, NACE & other certified standards (Manual Blaster)
• Adjust air pressure & equipment per instruction
• Mix coating product with the recommended ratios and add the correct thinner, to get right viscosity.
• Select proper spraying equipment
• Ability to read and understand paint shop prints/drawings
• Performs masking according to shop drawings
• Verifies the surface preparation according to NACE and SSPC standards prior to the coating application
• Maintain work space cleanliness and safety
• Operates hoists, cranes, and forklift, when required and ensures adequate and proper handling
• When instructed, performs corrections (touch-ups) and repairs
• Informs the Foreman of any problems, defects, corrections, required, or non-conformities
• Respect project requirements and applicable standards
• Optimize resources used and minimize media/paint losses
• Follow surface preparation and coating application procedures and use the proper related forms
• Maintain equipment and operate per instructions
• Accurately fill out essential paperwork
• All other related tasks and duties
Education/Training and Work Experience:
• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (Preferred)
• 1 to 3 years’ experience as a painter, laborer, construction worker or other relevant work experience preferred
Key Technical Skills/Abilities:
Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs. continuously throughout shift
Ability to sweep, shovel or clean or other assigned duties
Ability to follow direction
Perform all major equipment operations (crane, IBT, blasting, forklift, material handling)
Ability to mask per specifications
Print reading
Paint setup
Paint touch up
Knowledgeable on the basic flow of production through paint shop
Understanding of NACE and SSPC coating standards
Must have the ability to speak English fluently.

Shopman's Local Union 850 of the Iron Workers:
