Metropolitan Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join our team!

 

Responsible for companywide field purchasing. This includes the overall proposal and project procurement process from coordination with the project teams, major equipment and commodity buy-outs, vendor accountability and issue resolution, and performance metrics.

 

Essential Tasks:

 

  • Responsible for negotiating the best value in all aspects of buying and procurement including pricing, delivery dates, terms and conditions for company-wide purchases
  • Analyze supplier responses and quotes and make recommendations to reduce total costs and serve the project team. Work closely with project managers throughout.
  • Issue purchase orders, place orders with suppliers, track/expedite orders
  • Strategize on purchasing best practices and refine company process as needed
  • Hold MMC team members accountable for following the process
  • Create and implement key performance metrics; monitor actual results (delivery dates, costs, etc.)
  • Develop and support strong ethical relationships with vendors and manufacturers to ensure profitable negotiation of contracts and purchases.
  • Build and manage vendor management program.
  • Negotiate annual master contracts with vendors and subcontractors, as applicable
  • Manage workload and performance of additional purchasing team staff
  • Perform additional assignments as directed

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Construction Industry experience - preferably in Mechanical Contracting (Plumbing, HVAC) or similar
  • Extensive experience in negotiation, contracts, and procurement in a faced-paced environment
  • Able to work effectively under hurried and pressured conditions, maintaining flexibility as conditions change. Able to organize and prioritize effectively to reflect these changes
  • An excellent communicator who understands both internal and external customer service. Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel.
  • An individual experienced in meeting deadlines through multitasking, prioritization, organization, and discipline
  • A person of unquestionable integrity and strong discipline. MMC requires preapproval prior to accepting any and all vendor offers.
  • Experienced with data analysis and desire to use data to assess key performance metrics and drive change
  • Must be very strong in Microsoft products: Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
