Veterinary Technician for Sioux Falls Area Humane Society

The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society (SFAHS), located on Benson Road in Eastern Sioux Falls, is seeking a self-motivated, caring, and reliable full-time Veterinary Technician to add to our medical team.

With the continuing expansion of our facility and no shortage of animal intakes, the need for an additional member with specific technical skills has grown. Shelter medicine can be a challenging career path but is also one of the most rewarding callings in the animal care field.

In the role of a shelter Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing the well-being of hundreds of animals on a daily basis. Early detection and communication to establish effective treatment is critical to maintain herd health. Applicants must be able to communicate well, and work closely with all members of staff. In addition to providing a safe haven for all animals that come through our doors, the goal of the SFAHS is to address overpopulation by spaying and neutering, along with educating the public. It is vital to our cause that our staff members are dependable and exhibit a professional demeanor at all times.

Candidates should have a minimum of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology and prefer nationally certification or at least have to complete certification in one year of employment after hire. Applicants must be skilled and comfortable assisting in surgical protocols, euthanasia procedures, routine exams, and speaking with members of the public when warranted. Experience in shelter medicine is preferred, but not required.

This full-time position includes rotating weekends and holidays. Work hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. As a FT employee, you will qualify for a variety of benefits offered by a nonprofit organization. EOE  Apply today!!
