YARD Manager
Yard Manager is responsible for supervising all assigned employees in the Yard to ensure safe and efficient material handling, as well as meeting Production requirements.
Schedule: Monday through Thursday 7:00am - 4:30pm and Friday 7:00am - 12:00pm
Duties Summary/Responsibilities:
- Report to General Manager
- Plan, coordinate and monitor, on a daily basis, yard work activities, and resources necessary to meet the production schedule and timescale for the completion of the work
- Supervise and direct all assigned yard employees
- Record in the integrated “IPS” database (Integrated Production System) the daily advancement of the work achieved by your section
- Conduct regular inspections of the work (practices/methods) to check for deviations from ADF-established quality standards
- Provide to the employee the Quality orientations and promote the corporate quality policy and objective and promote our cultural beliefs
- Responsible for ensuring that safety rules and regulations are respected
- Enforce disciplinary actions when appropriate
- Maintain the quality of work produced in the yard
- Reassign/reorganize tasks when equipment is in need of repair or replacing
- Responsible for any problems arising in the yard
- Interact/meet with yard employees on a regular basis, and as required, to provide guidance, updates, changes in schedule or methods, etc.
- Investigates all accidents and complete appropriate reports
- Perform scheduled performance appraisals
- Validate all yard employee timesheets
- Responsible for compliance with Corporations Quality Management System and Quality Control and Quality Assurance program
- Responsible for knowing and following safe work practices including OSHA safety rules and regulations in effect
- Responsible for knowing and following Corporate policies and procedures, as well as ADF’s work instructions and fabrication standards
- Responsible for ensuring smooth operations of yard
- Responsible for ensuring that the personnel under your supervision clean and properly store all tools/equipment at the end of the shift and keep their work areas clean
- Responsible for detecting faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify the Yard Supervisor
- Report any non-conformity
- Any other related duties assigned
Education/Training and Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
- Valid Driver’s License
- Prior operating experience on the following; tractor trailer, loader, and telehandler forklift
- 5-7 years of prior supervising experience
- CDL is beneficial
Key Technical Skills/Abilities:
- Mechanically inclined
- Detail oriented
- Ability to calculate weight and load distribution
- Operational knowledge of material handling including rigging and overhead cranes lifting scenarios
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operations and lifting scenarios
- Ability to read tape measure and understand bill of lading, gather and reception lists
- Effective communications with managers
- Physical ability to perform all job duties
- Asset Utilization
- Ability to learn on the go
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to perform the following activities and sustain for varying lengths of time: stand, walk, drag, pull, push, lift, lower, climb stairs or ladders, balance, bend, twist, squat, kneel and stoop on a constant basis, and work in an elevated location occasionally. Must be able to repetitively articulate hands, wrists etc. to operate standard office equipment; and perform those similar activities while seated as well as perform computer work for various lengths of time. Use hands to reach outside of power zone constantly. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform work in variable climate conditions such as but not limited to, hot, cold, dusty, noisy etc.
