Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for tape and finish drywall to prepare it for prime and paint.


Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Mix drywall compound using electric drill and paddle.
  • Apply drywall mud and tape to all drywall joints and seams using Ames Drywall Tools.
  • Apply metal/plastic corner beads as needed to drywall. Then coat with drywall compound.
  • Box(apply compound) all screw/nail heads and beads
  • Second coat(with drywall compound) all joints,seams,screw/nail heads and bead using Ames Drywall Tools(hand tools if necessary).
  • Third coat(with drywall compound) all joints,seams,screw/nail heads and bead using Ames Drywall Tools          (hand tools if necessary).
  • Sand areas that have been coated with drywall compound to a smooth finish that is ready for paint or wallpaper to be applied.
  • Fire Tape(tape and one coat of compound) all areas that need to be coated per blueprint/specifications.
  • Apply texturizing compound to all surfaces that require it per the blueprints/specifications. Tools necessary for this may or maynot include trowels, brushes, rollers or spray guns.

Experience and Education:

  • 1 year of hands on field experience.
  • Union Membership(in good standing)
  • Able to lift 65 lbs.
  • OSHA 30 Certified(preferred)
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing.
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Able to work overhead for long periods of time.
  • Reliable transportation.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of commercial buildings, manufacturing buildings and houses.
  • Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Public Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Management of Personnel Resources - Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Management of Material Resources - Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work.

Tools/Technology Required:

  • Able to productively use Ames Taping Tools.
  • Able to use spray gun, hopper and compressor for texture work.
  • Able to productively use hand tools(trowels, knives, pans etc.).
