POSITION GOAL

Utilizing effective communication skills interact with families both face to face in a clinical setting and via the phone to assist them in connecting with local resources or enrolling in the WIC Program (Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children). This position will support the WIC program by assisting families to schedule appointments, verify eligibility and maintain compliance within the WIC Program. This position will also support families enrolled in Medicaid by explaining eligibility and connecting families with necessary community resources. Work with the Health Alliance team to maintain data systems within these programs.

 

SCHEDULE and WAGE

 

Hours- Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

 

Wage- $14.47

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Clinic preparation including scheduling appointments in the clinic and reminding participants of scheduled appointments. Completes calls for missed appointments and prepares necessary participant notices as needed.
  2.  Clinic intake responsibilities including performing WIC eligibility verification for WIC families during WIC appointments which includes verifying residency, identification and income.
  3.  Clinic compliance issues related to checking for appropriate signatures, titles and dates on the WIC Rights and Responsibilities Forms.
  4.  Enters data into a variety of agency and state data bases.
  5.  Tracks necessary information for Care Coordination billing.
  6.  Supervises the Alliance waiting room, including some child control and assuring the room is picked up at the end of the day.
  7.  Inform families about the EPSDT Care For Kids program and educate families about the importance of preventive medical and dental care for children.
  8.  Assist families in locating medical/dental providers and remind families that periodic screenings are due.
  9.  Schedule, remind and/or re-schedule appointments for checkups, primary screenings and referral appointments.
  10.  Provide linkages to support services such as transportation and child care.
  11.  Follow-up to determine if all medically necessary diagnostic and treatment services have been received and assist clients and families with necessary referrals to providers and other health related community services.
  12.  Provide follow-up education and monitoring of medical and dental plans.
  13.  Serve as a client/family advocate and provide support and assistance as families become independent health care consumers.
  14.  Review client records in Child Health data system to identify missing demographic information that needs to be recorded as determined by the Title V contract agency’s protocol.
  15.  Contact the client as specified by the Title V contract agency’s protocol, which may include making phone calls, sending written information, and /or communicating via the WIC clinic visit.
  16.  Complete documentation in Child Health data system for services provided, needs to be met, and/or needs to be identified.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Successful completion of one-year secretarial program

                      OR

      High School diploma/GED

                     AND

      One-year clerical experience

 

 Experience with computers

 Ability to work under pressure with limited supervision on strict timelines
