Summary:

Full time Instrumentation Technician is needed for a multimillion dollar project in Kingsport, TN. Duties will include installation, startup, programming, testing, maintenance, repair, and modification of instrumentation on large drilling rigs after provided training. Experience working with PLCs and instrumentation sensors is required. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a SAFETY-FIRST mentality and can self-manage assigned projects.  Candidate will be working at job site outdoors, year-round in all weather conditions.  Successful candidate will be on-call Saturdays as needed and hourly/overtime eligible.  

Essential Functions:

  • Installation and Testing of Field Instrumentation  
  • Basic & Advanced Troubleshooting Techniques
  • Basic Calibration Tests on Field Instrumentation
  • Maintenance & Replacement of Defective Instruments on Heavy Equipment
  • Consult & Deliver Technical Solutions to Customers
  • Help Train Operators on the Use of the PLCs

Education & Training:

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • 1-2 Years Working with Low Voltage Systems
  • Experience Measuring Current, Voltage, and Resistance using Multimeters

Experience:

  • Associates Degree and/ or Military Experience
  • Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electronic equipment
  • Experience working with all varieties of hand tools and select power tools
  • Experience working with flow and pressure sensors

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Clear understanding of instrumentation signals such 4-20mA loops
  • Ability to read and understand wiring schematics and blue prints
  • Ability to absorb and retain new information and techniques on a regular basis
  • MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Physical Requirements:

• Reaching high and low, stooping, and bending continually
• Lifting/carrying/moving up to 100 pounds continually
• Able to travel per the company travel policy
• Able to concentrate at a high degree in a busy and noisy construction environment
• Able to work in all types of weather
