Job Description

The Plant Manager is a supervisory level position within Concrete Operations. The Plant Manager plans and directs operation activities concerned with the production of ready mix concrete. The position involves, but is not limited to, the following tasks and duties:
• Oversee or directly batch specific required mix designs utilizing computerized systems to accurately meet individual customer and company quality control requirement.
• Supervise and direct 4-20 union Ready Mix drivers and union yard personnel and is responsible for everyone’s safety at the plant site. Assigns daily work and disseminates policies and objectives to hourly staff
• Resolves problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of daily work
• Reviews and analyzes data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered
• Organizes material resources and inventories of raw materials to ensure effective production of ready mix concrete and responsible for supervision of the maintenance, repair and reliability of onsite batch plant equipment with associated safety requirements
• Coordinates activities of department with related activities of other plant locations to ensure efficiency and economy
• Responsible for the direct compliance of all established environmental, regulatory and safety procedures on the plant site
• Responsible for all direct cash or credit transactions from delivers originating from their plant
• Prepares accurate reports, required inventories and records on department activities for management
• Recommends employees for awards and has authority to discipline employees in accordance with current collective bargaining agreements
• Monitors work of subordinates for safety conformance and provides for a safe work environment

The hours of work for this position are usually from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This is a non-exempt hourly position.

II. GENERAL WORK AREA LOCATION:

This position is located at individual plants located in Northern California including: Cameron Park, Dixon, Elk Grove, Fairfield, Lincoln, Rio Linda, Vallejo and Woodland. The Manager may travel to other plant locations as business may dictate and where products are utilized.

III. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires attendance in Anti-Trust Training and management training for supervisory positions

Safety Requirements:
1. Employee is required to observe all safety standards and rules of the office and/or plant operation procedures
2. Employee must report all injuries as soon as possible after occurrence to his/her Supervisor and Risk Management at Syar Industries
3. Safety gear must be worn by all employees as necessary when visiting other facilities
4. Must possess a current California driver’s license and clean DMV (2 points or less)

Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to communicate fluently in English
Ability to give and receive information on the phone
Working knowledge of Command Alkon computer programs and Microsoft products
2 years Ready Mix industry knowledge
2 years previous supervisory experience
