Job Description

The Project Engineer is responsible for a variety of tasks including submittals, shop drawings, material ordering, quality and delivery, processing change orders and safety.  Project Engineers work with the Project Managers and Superintendents on single or multiple projects.  It is the responsibility of the Project Engineer to assist in delivering the contractual obligations in a manner that is consistent with Jackson Contractor Group’s corporate culture and core values.

Essential Duties/Functions

  • Support the field - The primary way this is done is through Materials This includes submittals, shop drawings, and expediting material deliveries.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent as follows:
    • Accumulate all necessary data for and prepare the monthly Owner Pay
    • Discover and resolve interface conflicts between the Company and subcontractors, as well as among
    • Assist the Company's field supervisors on interpretation of drawings, specifications, RFIs, and questions for and from the Architect/Engineer.
    • Assist in the process and estimate all Change Orders and Requests for Information
    • Assist in developing and updating the
    • Provide assistance on form detailing and special
    • Assist with production analysis studies.
    • Jobsite initiated
    • Assist and/or run weekly Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings and maintain meeting
    • Assist with preparation and running of weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
    • Assist in Monthly Project Status Reporting.
  • Safety - Participate in the jobsite safety meetings, weekly safety audits,
  • Quality - Facilitate and/or participate in Preparatory Meetings, Initial Inspections, Follow-up Inspections,
  • Develop/manage the Job Cost in conjunction with the Project Manager and Project
  • Other duties as designated by the Project Manager, or Project

  • Handle all interactions with coworkers, subcontractors, clients, the public, etc. in a manner designed to build and maintain long term relationships.
  • Go the extra mile to ensure the project is successful and with complete satisfaction of the client by double checking all critical work deliverables to minimize mistakes.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Self-motivation, punctuality and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Experience & Skills Desired

  • Must be able to read and understand project documents such as plans, specifications, contracts, etc.
  • Four-year degree from an accredited university or college in a related field of construction or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred experience with the following programs:
    • Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
    • Procore
    • Bluebeam
    • ASTA PowerProject
    • SketchUp
    • AutoCAD

Certificates & Licenses

  • Montana SWPPP certification is encouraged
  • OSHA 30 training is encouraged
  • LEED GA or other LEED certification is encouraged
  • Lean training/certification is encouraged
