Scope: The Project Controls Assistant is responsible for, but not limited to, assisting in the Project Controls Manager and/or Project Manager in monitoring the execution of a project by assisting in creating and updating construction schedules working closely with field management personnel. The position requires monitoring progress, performance, and critical path. This includes learning to identify trends, make conclusions, recommendations regarding process, document controls, procurement, subcontracting, risk management, and change control, in conjunction with the Controls Manager. Responsible for assist the creation of accurate and timely schedule updates and reports. Learning to analyzing the impact of major schedule changes or delays. Supporting open communication where all stakeholders are informed about significant changes to baselines and their affect.
Primary responsibilities are to assist and/or support the following:
- Assist in the planning process
- Timely and accurate communication with the Controls Manager or Project Manager, including asking questions related to job progress, projections and variances
- Utilize estimate, drawings, specifications, contract documents, and field management input to assist prepare bid and awarded construction schedules using Microsoft Projects and/or Primavera P6
- Resource load schedules and level manpower
- Update schedules accurately and timely
- Set-up and maintain standard progress reporting
- Monitor and incorporate change orders into schedules
- Communicate schedule variances with project management
- Attend construction meetings and report on progress
- Track, analyze, and interpret data while ensuring data integrity
- Provide management with recommendations based on data analysis
- Develop equipment drawings, schedules, submittals, material lists, and as built drawings.
- Understand agreements and work scope
- Assist in compiling cost estimates and proposal preparation
- Other duties as required
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management, or four years of professional experience in industrial construction
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel)
- Ability to learn and become proficient with Microsoft Projects, and Primavera 6
- Valid State Driver’s license, and able to travel to project sites
