As a Superintendent, you will lead all field operations of commercial construction projects within highly sensitive, occupied facilities.  The size of the projects based on value can be expected to range between $7M and $10M with healthcare experience preferred. You will provide leadership and demonstrate the characteristics of a Bouten leader while serving as the liaison between project team members, trade partners, suppliers, vendors, stakeholders, and clients.

  • Using knowledge of construction procedures gained through experience, manage the dayto-day activities on the project; monitor all functions to oversee the construction process.
  • Sets production goals with crew and subs; establishes accountability for goals and consequences for failing to meet them.
  • Schedules deliveries.
  • Using knowledge of construction procedures; makes site visits and drafts reports following visits.
  • Completes paperwork correctly and on-time; documents problems on the job site as they occur.
  • Effectively manage the labor budget to ensure that it is being met and communicate with SPM/PM to work through problematic areas.
  • Maintain records of the total costs for materials purchases and payments for work completed.
  • Maintain coordination with local applicable city/state inspectors.
  • Provide detailed daily documentation in writing of project progress.
  • Manages overall job schedule through pre-job planning; completes a daily/weekly/three week look ahead schedule; plans for rental equipment needs well in advance whenever possible; engages subs to commit to the three week look ahead schedule. Know how to build a schedule and maintain such.
  • Assures safety policies and procedures are followed on the job site; enforces rules; leads safety meetings weekly; provides necessary safety equipment and information.
  • Holds crew accountable for their performance; provides positive and good example; communicates with crew, subs, administration, clients, and public in a positive manner; provides coaching and leadership for crew.
  • Assures the quality expectations of the job are exceeded.
  • Ensures that both the health and safety plans are properly implemented and followed.
  • Understands Lean principals and uses them to ensure the success of the project and trade partners.

Qualifications

Education/Experience - To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a high school diploma. Individual should have completed an apprenticeship or the equivalent and possess a minimum of five years working at a journeyman level. Must possess a minimum of three years working in a construction leadership role (i.e., foreman or superintendent).

Certificates/Licenses – Valid driver’s license.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move more up to 50 lbs., carry up to 20 lbs. and stoop, crouch.

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • Must be able to maneuver around jobsite obstacles normal to construction projects, including ascending and descending ladders.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle to visit jobsites.
  • Ability to hear and speak.

Computer Skills - Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office software suite, Microsoft Project and Primavera 6 scheduling softwares, and iOS devices.

Language Ability - Ability to read and interpret documents such as plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization; fluent in English required.

Math Ability - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Knowledge and understanding of practical engineering principles for all disciplines.

Motor Coordination - Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, fingers, and feet accurately and handle precise movements.

Problem Solving Ability – Ability to identify and/or prevent problems before they occur; ability to formulate alternative solutions to problems when necessary; ability to transfer learning from past experience to new experiences of similar nature.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Multi-Tasking Ability - Ability to handle many diverse tasks/projects at one time; ability to prioritize and complete them on time.
