Condon-Johnson & Associates is an innovative geotechnical construction contractor that is recognized for designing and building complex foundation systems for commercial, heavy civil and industrial projects throughout the Western United States.  Our district offices are strategically located in Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, and Portland.  

Corporate Safety Director:

The Corporate Safety Director is responsible for implementing, managing, and auditing the safety program and safety culture.  This individual will continue to drive the strong safety culture that already exists within the company.  This position is based at the Corporate Office in Oakland, California but will oversee all West Coast Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and resolve a wide variety of minor to complex safety-related issues
  • Disseminate pertinent safety information
  • Design and deliver safety training materials covering all aspects of construction safety and hazardous materials
  • Administer and review Site Specific Safety Plans and Job Hazard Analysis
  • Generate and track reports which analyze incidents, investigations, and training
  • Responsible for coaching and directing the company’s regional safety managers and any outside consultants
  • Manages and controls costs related to insurance claims and risk management related matters
  • Perform audits of the CJA safety program at the employee, project, district, and corporate levels
  • Visit and evaluate our project job sites
  • Administer the CJA Substance Abuse Program

 DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • BS Degree in Safety and Health Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or Environmental Health and Safety
  • 7+ years of Safety Experience
  • 2-3 years of prior Field Experience preferred
  • Hold advanced board certified safety accreditations (CHST, ASP, CSP)
  • Capable and ambitious to travel within the Western United States
  • Experience working with WISHA, Cal-OSHA, & Cal-OSHA mining and tunneling requirements
  • Personable, outgoing, competitive, and driven to lead
  • Outstanding speaking, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
