Job Title: HVAC Estimator
Reports to: Service Operations Manager
Summary/Objective:
The HVAC Estimator is responsible for producing a variety of estimates including Conceptual, Design-Build, Design-Assist, and Plan and Spec. for commercial & industrial concerns.
Essential Functions:
- Respond to customer-driven and company driven requests for proposals in a timely, competent, and reliable manner
- Ability to interpret plans & specifications, and work with Service Operations & Service Sales teams to offer best solutions to customers
- Prepare estimates, proposals and all associated documents required for HVAC & Mechanical projects
- Coordinate with relevant parties (suppliers, subcontractors, etc.) to develop competitive proposals
- Ensure proposals are completed in an organized, timely manner
- Compose and distribute detailed bid scope letters in conjunction with each proposal
- Review proposals developed to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Complete walkthroughs of proposed project locations to develop a comprehensive understanding of estimation considerations
- Attend bid-related events as needed to ensure ACI proposals are delivered in compliance with the associated requirements
- Proactively develop and maintain relationships with owners, owners agents, general contractors, etc. in an effort to expand the company’s business opportunities
- Maintain an active understanding of market conditions and provide management with suggestions on ways to improve bid submissions
- Performs other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Required:
- 5+ years’ experience developing HVAC proposals and/or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
- Able to effectively plan, organize, prioritize, and control the work process
- Strong understanding of estimating and pricing process
- Capable of reading and interpreting schematics, plans, specifications and addenda’s
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and without close supervision
- Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with a wide range of audiences
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Basic understanding in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills
- Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)
- Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
- Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned, to include working varying schedules that may require extended hours (evenings, weekends and holidays) and require client-specific safety standards

Work Environment:
- Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
- Position may require visits to construction site
Physical Demands:
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines
- Occasional need to climb ladders for roof access
Travel:
- May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight)
Preferred:
- Licensed Virginia Journeyman and/or Master
- Prior military experience
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
