We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled individual to serve the various Vegetation Management needs for Southern California Edison (SCE).

Job Summary: 

A Patrol-Work Planner's primary responsibility is to survey a designated area and identify vegetation that may encroach within the utility's right-of-way. The Patrol-Work Planner will report their findings of vegetation in proximity to utility powerlines and provide recommendations to schedule corrective or preventative maintenance. This role is critical to reduce service interruptions from vegetation and support the safe and reliable delivery of electric service to customers.

 Essential Job Functions:

• Inspect vegetation in proximity to utility right-of-ways and ascertain action necessary to maintain the integrity of the right-of-way.
• Meet with Utility Representative and land owners to explain vegetation work.
• Use work planning software to interpret work assignment, maps and diagrams.
• Enter data and inspection findings through work planning software for customer reporting. 
• Research easement and land rights for widths, rights and restrictions.
• Create and maintain various internal reports and correspondence.

• Prepare documents for payroll, customer billing, orders completed, units of work completed, crew time, etc.  

• Furnish Supervision and utility representative with work status reports that complete/incomplete to help adjust work resources on task.

• Support Supervision and coworkers in a professional (meet deadlines, be proactive and communicate effectively) and timely manner.  

• Help organize, assign and route incoming work from customer.

• Inspect work completed by contractors for compliance with utility specifications.

• Maintain accurate records, timesheets and reports related to the performance of work. 

• Answer phone and provide assistance and support to internal staff, client and client’s customers. 

• Answer phone, take messages and relay information to appropriate internal staff for resolution.

• Perform other related work as assigned. 

 Minimum Requirements: 

• Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with hazards or weather (rain, cold & heat) must possess mental and physical endurance to work throughout an eight or ten-hour shift. 

• Must be able cooperate with Supervision, General Foreperson, Crewmembers, Utility Representatives and Customers.

• Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.

• Must be able to use a computer, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and similar related programs. 
• Able to interpret work assignment/diagrams (on tablet) provided by Supervision or Customer.
• Capable of adjusting to field requirements and take independent action without close supervision.

• Must be organized and detail oriented to ensure task(s) are completed timely and accurately.

• Must be able to traverse various terrains.
