The main responsibility of the HR Intern is to provide administrative support to the Human Resources Manager on all personnel matters.  This is a part-time internship position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource information confidential
  • Verifies I-9 documentation and other new hire paperwork
  • Submits online requests for background checks, Motor Vehicle checks, and drug screens
  • Posts job ads and assists with the recruitment/hiring process
  • Performs file and database audits to ensure that all required employee documentation is collected and maintained
  • Makes photocopies, faxes and scans documents, and performs other clerical duties
  • Files papers and scanned documents in appropriate employee files
  • Assists the HR team with various research projects and/or other special projects

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally, as to communicate with employees in various locations and members of the HR Department
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Requires effective interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well under stress, despite numerous interruptions with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  •  High School diploma/GED required; working toward degree in Human Resource Management or related field
  • Previous experience in an office setting with performing HR related duties a plus

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office environment with moderate noise levels
  • Mostly sedentary role with the need to move about the office to copy, scan, fax, and file
  • Will require opening of heavy file cabinets with bending, stopping or kneeling to file
  • May require light lifting of storage boxes
  • May require consistent time spent on the computer and phone throughout the day
