JOB DESCRIPTION

The Café/Bar Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of Café and Bar operations. Responsibilities include coordination of staffing, controlling expenses and overall management of all areas of the café and bar. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout the entire Café and thereby driving sales. The Café/Bar Manager is a role model and leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage the workforce in a timely and wise manner in order to achieve maximum business results.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Orders products and supplies for the Café & Bar
  • Work closely with party coordinators to ensure events run smoothly
  • Manages vendors and maintains inventory
  • Acts as a liaison between the Café and all other departments, communicating relevant information to the café staff as needed
  • Trains new employees and provide ongoing training for all Café staff
  • Serves as a lead customer service contact for members at the Café and Bar
  • Monitors and analyzes the Café budget
  • Implements café policies and procedures
  • Operates a variety of specialized food service equipment, i.e. drink dispenser, ovens, frozen yogurt machines
  • Prepares cooks and serves menu items
  • Adheres to strict portion control policy
  • Suggests menu additions, deletions and price changes to senior management
  • Responsible for compliance with Health Department regulations
  • Has an understanding and is capable of teaching cash register operation
  • Provide a safe environment for all patrons
  • Responsible for staffing, selection, training, and supervision of the Café/Bar staff, Café/Bar operations, and Café/Bar inventory
  • Ensure ID’s are being checked in the bar area and that all guests are 21 and over
  • Assisting with managing other areas of the store
  • Performs opening/closing procedures
  • Complete weekly bar and cafe inventory audits
  • Reduce waste through proper product rotation, storage and dating
  • Assist in managing payroll and staffing budgets for Café/Bar
  • Manage Symphony POS system including modify menu options and training staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to develop and train the workforce, build relationships, utilize skills of workforce most appropriately
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Ability to manage café/bar teams effectively
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service
  • Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to workforce
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain records and documentation pertaining to workforce
  • Retail, restaurant or hospitality management experience REQUIRED
  • Ability to work a fully flexible retail schedule including nights, weekends and holidays is a MUST
  • Availability to work the hours necessary to open and/or close the store
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills
  • The incumbent must be very energetic
  • Must possess a high threshold for ambiguity and change
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
