JOB DESCRIPTION

The MerchandisingManager loves the brand, loves our products, and is passionate about bringing our products and services to life for our customers. He/she assists in communicating with all store-level employees as well as the corporate buying, inventory, and merchandising teams on product levels, display and promotional executions, and sell through. The Merchandising Manager is directly responsible for managing and training company visual standards, executing floor sets and managing product performance by conducting appropriate analysis and reacting as needed. The Merchandising Manager must effectively manage store operations, ensuring consistency and compliance with all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the overall merchandising team’s performance, goal setting, and performance reviews
  • Day-to-day management, communicating tasks, staffing, and scheduling of the merchandising workforce with particular emphasis on visual standard
  • Partners with the Sales Manager on completing merchandising associate and leadership schedules to meet the needs of the department while still controlling payroll
  • Ability to run the sales floor as the Manager on Duty (MOD) and drive strong hourly sales and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) results in the moment
  • Monitor the accuracy of sales goals reporting and communication
  • Train new hires and issue on the spot training and development of all associates as needed to ensure full potential is reached
  • Ensures company standards are met for store and associate appearance at all times
  • Responsible for the overall merchandising team’s performance, goal setting, and performance reviews

  • Ensures company standards are met for store and associate appearance at all times
  • Communicate any staff, product, and operational issues within the store to the General Manager (GM) and/or Assistant General Manager (AGM) in a timely fashion and assist with executing action plans to improve
  • Consistently focused on customer experience and creating a welcoming and energetic environment for the customer
  • Demonstrates desired behaviors and leads by example by training assistant store managers, supervisors, leads, and associates to utilize Dylan’s Candy Bar’s four service skills
  • Establishes and maintains a positive work environment that supports high team member morale and retention
  • Leverages individual associate and management strengths, and creates developmental plans to build bench strength for future growth within the organization
  • Observe the sales floor and make sure the business is running effectively and smoothly in a clean, stocked, and presentable store
  • Perform all opening and closing procedures to company standards
  • Manage staff breaks as needed
  • Timely and appropriate follow-up communication on tasks, product issues, customer feedback, and business opportunities as needed
  • Utilizing company tools such as the Merchandising Manual to initiate, train, monitor, and maintain Dylan’s Candy Bar visual standards
  • Initial execution of signage and promotional placement and movement as needed
  • Ensuring all product is properly priced and scanning prior to doing floor sets
  • Ensuring all displays/vessels are properly cleaned prior to doing floor sets.
  • Maintaining an awareness of all product knowledge, best-sellers, merchandise promotions, and pricing in order to communicate selling trends and product information
  • Mapping and executing seasonal floor moves with the assistance of corporate merchandising and buying teams and following up on any changes or issues along the way
  • Ability to translate product placement and flow for a variety of store layouts and properly react to in-season display maintenance
  • Managing store display quantities and assisting the inventory teams in managing product levels to properly react to strong sell-through and floor moves
  • Proactive analysis of weekly store transfer orders to ensure the product needed is arriving to the store in a timely fashion
  • Assisting in monitoring product trends through best-sellers reports and making necessary recommendations for maximizing seasonal goals, gross margin, and product liabilities
  • Training all store teams on company visual standards and expectations as well as product knowledge, promotions, and pricing in order to maximize sell through
  • Leading and directing floor moves, replenishment, merchandising, and display maintenance
  • Assisting in the talent acquisition and development of the non-exempt retail team
  • Participating in weekly corporate inventory and buying team calls and/or walkthroughs
  • Completing seasonal product recaps at the end of each major season
  • Any other duties as assigned by the GM and/or AGM

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-3 years visual merchandising and/or creative background preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30lbs and be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to analyze and control costs
  • Excellent organizational, decision making, problem solving, and teambuilding skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with confidence to both internal and external customers as well as corporate partners
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule which will include nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnights
  • Financial and Business Acumen: Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results
  • Training and Development: Ability to lead and develop a high performing team and hold the team accountable to Dylan’s Candy Bar’s standards and expectations.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and proactively react to the needs of the business with a sense of urgency in a high paced environment
  • Ability to use/learn Microsoft Suite
  • Demonstrates strong listening, written and oral communication skills
