JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) loves the brand, loves our products, and is passionate about bringing our products and services to life for our customers. He/she assists the General Manager in motivating and inspiring their team to achieve store productivity goals and assists in recruiting and hiring appropriately to ensure the store is fully staffed at all times. The AGM is directly responsible for the training and development of all subordinate retail store teams in order to deliver exceptional customer service and drive top line sales through weekly analysis of best-sellers and key performance indicators. The AGM must effectively manage store operations, ensuring consistency and compliance with all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

·       Manages the daily fiscal responsibilities of the store, including: staffing levels, budgets, financial goals, cash handling, P&L analysis, and gross margin controls

  • Manages the operational responsibilities of the store, including: repairs and maintenance, cleanliness, first in/first out (FIFO), inventory control and mark-outs, and visual standards
  • Establishes employee goals and conducts employee performance reviews, including reviews for salaried management
  • Plans and zones store manager and supervisor time as well as setting hourly goals by utilizing the company’s daily sales tracking sheets    
  • Partners with the café and parties departments to build, support, and manage the business for the betterment of the overall store
  • Perform all opening and closing procedures to company standards
  • Partners with the Sales Manager on completing sales associate schedules to meet the needs of the business.
  • Consistently focused on customer experience and creating a welcoming and energetic environment for the customer
  • Any other tasks as assigned from time to time
  • Demonstrates desired behaviors and leads by example by training store managers, supervisors, leads, and associates to utilize Dylan’s Candy Bar’s four service skills: M&M, Razzle Dazzle, Smarties, and Good N Plenty
  • Establishes and maintains a positive work environment that supports high team member morale and retention
  • Utilizes company tools such as the management scorecard and mystery shopping program to diagnose opportunities and develop action plans to improve performance and drive sales
  • Regularly communicates with General Manager to discuss strengths, opportunities, customer feedback, and trends
  • Helps the General Manager in identifying training needs and providing ongoing trainingopportunities to the team as needed
  • Leverages individual associate and management strengths, and creates developmental plans to build bench strength for future growth within the organization
  • Assists in hiring and actively recruiting to ensure open positions are filled quickly
  • Ensures company standards are met for store and associate appearance at all times
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes all sales promotions in a timely manner and ensures all pricing, signage, and displays are correct at all times in order to do so
  • Enforces all company policies and procedures, including health, safety, security, and all SOPs set forth by the corporate office
  • Store supply ordering
  • Performs all other duties as directed by the General Manager
  • Responsible for overall store performance in the General Manager’s absence

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years retail sales management experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30lbs and be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to analyze and control costs.
  • Excellent organizational, decision making, problem solving, and teambuilding skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with confidence to both internal and external customers as well as corporate partners.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule which will include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Financial and Business Acumen: Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results.
  • Training and Development: Ability to lead and develop a high performing team and hold the team accountable to Dylan’s Candy Bar’s standards and expectations. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and proactively react to the needs of the business with a sense of urgency in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrates strong listening, written and oral communication skills
