JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Sales Manager loves the brand, loves our products, and is passionate about bringing those products to life for our customers. He/she supports the senior management team in the building on a daily basis to ensure all associate-level employees are doing what they need to be doing at all times and have all of the necessary communication to properly perform in their roles. Assistant Sales Managers are directly responsible for the training and development of the sales teams as well as running the sales floor in order to drive top line sales and KPI’s results. The Assistant Sales Manager must effectively manage store operations, ensuring consistency and compliance with all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assign tasks to all associates in their zones and ensure they are completed
  • Day-to-day supervision, staffing, and zoning of the workforce with particular emphasis on sales and customer service
  • Establish, monitor, and analyze sales goals on a daily basis, as well as setting obtainable, personalized sales goals for the team
  • Ability to run the sales floor as the Manager on Duty (MOD) and drive strong hourly sales and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) results by redirecting staff in the moment
  • Ensure promotions and price changes are accurate and merchandised/signed properly
  • Monitor the accuracy of sales goals reporting and communication
  • Ensures company standards are met for store and associate appearance at all times
  • Ensure a team based work environment
  • Observe the sales floor to ensure a fully clean, stocked, and presentable store.
  • Perform all opening and closing procedures
  • Follow all cash handling procedures and issue register audits
  • Manage staff breaks as needed
  • Timely and appropriate follow-up communication on tasks, product issues, customer feedback, and business opportunities as needed
  • Leading morning meetings and pre-shift communication in order to ensure all associates are set up for success and have all information needed during their shift
  • Demonstrates desired behaviors and leads by example by training assistant store managers, supervisors, leads, and associates to utilize Dylan’s Candy Bar’s four service skills
  • Ability to properly redirect the sales team as needed based on traffic patterns and any other elements such as weather that may be affecting the daily/hourly business
  • Ensuring the sales team is proactively getting behind all product promotions, add-ons, up-selling techniques, and driving customer loyalty
  • Provide and inspire outstanding service to our customers
  • Oversee compliance of all associates with established company policies and standards
  • Exercise judgment and discretion in collaboration with management on the day-to-day operations of the store, employee concerns, promotions, and trends
  • Get behind incentive contests and motivate associates to create a fun, energetic and productive environment
  • Train and develop in order to build bench strength within the associate and lead population
  • Maintain personal department or area of responsibility (DOR) as laid out by management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior management

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have excellent communication, influencing and selling skills
  • Must have an ability and flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, store openings and closings, to meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30lbs and be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Must be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Dylan’s Candy Bar products
  • Enjoy being part of a team environment
  • Preferably have previous retail and/or customer service experience in the service industry with proven results (1 year minimum)
  • Ability to supervise store teams effectively
  • Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to workforce
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills
  • Must possess a high threshold for ambiguity and change
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to adapt to ever-changing customer volume levels with a sense of urgency
