The Company is headquartered in Katy, Texas and has offices in Frederick, Maryland, Reno, Nevada and Chicago, Illinois.
The Middleton Mine Manager is based out of the Middleton, TN office and reports to the Site Manager. This position will have the responsibility of leading the mining and planning operations for the mines in Tennessee and Mississippi. This position will work closely with the Middleton plant operations to ensure uninterrupted delivery of high quality clay. This facility in Middleton, TN mines and processes montmorillonite clay from several active on-site mines to produce products for the absorbents, soil amendments, and sports fields industries.
Job Functions:
- Manage all aspects of the mining operation including the development of short and long term mine plans that will be carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company safety rules. Conduct safety compliance audits monthly. Ensure no person has any injury or industrial illness from our work environment.
- Builds reserve models for the different types of clay.
- Facilitate permitting and land acquisition efforts to enable expansion of our mining operations.
- Plans and supervises reclamation of post mining areas to meet or exceed the permit or regulatory requirements.
- Participates in mining feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, capital and operating costs, and manpower and production requirements.
- Serves as Project Manager or technical expert, on site expansion or modification projects.
- Provide technical direction for engineering and mining team(s).
- Ensure that operations maintain compliance with local, state, and federal agencies regarding safety and environmental compliance.
- Direct the evaluation of opportunities for land acquisition and development as required.
- Prepare capital justifications for new equipment purchases and major components.
- Reporting to this position are the Mine team for the Middleton operation.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or equivalent required. A Masters’ degree or PE is a plus.
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of practical open pit mining, mine planning, and supervision experience.
- Experience in mine planning software and surveying with GPS is preferred.
- Ability to blend coaching, modeling, managing and recruiting to effectively drive improved results, develop followers and strengthen the operations team.
