The Ruhlin Company is seeking to hire an experienced Superintendent for it's Civil Division. Openings available in Northeast Ohio and Columbus Ohio.

Position Summary:  Directs the field construction activities and is responsible for coordinating the efforts of all direct-hire job personnel and subcontractors.

  • Assigned projects are completed on time, under budget and at a profit for TRC

  • Clients are satisfied with project results

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Plans and supervises all activities including determining method of construction, sequencing, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment and work schedule
  • Manages the day-to-day activities of the construction operation; creates daily job reports
  • Provides input to cost and schedule forecasts; verifies work progress
  • Participates in the negotiation of claims and changes
  • Coordinates with different crafts, company departments, or other contractors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support project activities and project schedule
  • Liaises with owner’s representatives (engineering, estimating, and planning) to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule
  • Assists in resolving field construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.)
  • Monitors craft and subcontractor compliance with project safety program requirements; performs weekly safety inspections and tool box talks; documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented
  • Assists in performing incident and/or accident investigations and follow-up
  • Maintains staffing levels that contribute to EEO goals for minorities and females
  • Prepares for and attends status meetings
  • Trains job personnel
  • Creates better methods to accomplish tasks
  • Performs project close-out and ensures punch list is completed in a timely manner
  • Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, values and goals
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience
  • Three years’ supervisory experience using similar construction methods, equipment and tools
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents
  • Effective communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups
  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, leadership and decision-making ability
  • Basic computer skills
