Summary:

Reports to the General Manager with responsibilities to the Director of Cultivation. Responsible for successful cultivation activities from seed/clone through harvest, following company policies and procedures and maintaining compliance with state regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the grow portion of operations, including executing a detailed plan and timeline for plant production from seed/clone to harvest
  • Executes a monthly, weekly, and daily schedule to consistently meet the demands of the business
  • Oversee regular scouting for pest, disease, and nutrient issues
  • Manages staff to ensure goals and performance metrics are being met
  • Tracks inventory levels and ensures that adequate supplies are available in reasonable quantities to support grow schedule
  • Ensures grow rooms are clean, properly equipped and in good working order
  • Operate greenhouse automation systems to monitor and affect grow environment
  • Produces a product that meets all lab testing requirements at targeted yield levels with the expected amounts of active pharmaceutical ingredients
  • Clearly sets out a vision for success and educates cultivation members on how their actions and accomplishments contribute to the overall success of the company
  • Establishes and enforces standards of accountability for cultivation staff
  • Regular reporting of grow status metrics and other key indicators
  • Ensure staff is trained and follows appropriate SOPs
  • Ensures that all requisite information is maintained in the state required computer system and records are up to date
  • Provide work direction to other growers
  • Complete inventory audits compliant with state and company requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours

 

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with large scale indoor grow or controlled greenhouse operations
  • Team management experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn seed to sale and ERP systems
  • Advanced understanding of horticulture practices including cloning plants
  • Ability to identify and remedy plant disease states
  • Familiar with good agricultural practices (GAP)
  • Can identify and remedy suboptimal nutrient states
  • Must be able to work in hot, humid environments for extended periods of time with exposure to dust, allergens, and water
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and kneel, stoop, bend, twist, in tight areas
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs safely, and regularly at times
  • Must adhere to all safety policies and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times

 

Education:

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in Botany, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or other related field

 

Desired Work Experience:

  • Five years of experience in a large-scale commercial growing operation in an indoor horticulture environment, with two years at the management level
  • Experience in a commercial scale cannabis grow operation
  • Experience with grow data acquisition
  • Experience designing nutrient mixes
  • Has worked in regulated environment
  • Familiar with supply chain software
  • Can grow to schedule
  • Supervisory experience is necessary
  • Knows Gavita and other commercial light systems
  • Mechanical aptitude (pumps, hoses, fittings, switches, etc)
