Abbott Construction is seeking a skilled Accounts Receivable professional to join our team. Under general supervision, this person performs a variety of specialized accounts receivable duties in support of the Accounting department and Project Management teams. This job requires general knowledge of accounting, advanced administrative and organizational skills and the ability to administer specialized processes to maintain detailed records and files. A successful candidate will be detail oriented and possess strong listening and communication skills, along with the ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues within a collaborative team environment, serving both external and internal teammates.

Primary Duties

  • Review and assist project teams with all billings
  • Prepare owner billing documents, lien releases, and invoices in AIA format
  • Process cash receipts and record payment to correct account
  • Reconcile and resolve over/under payment issues
  • Assist Project Managers in collecting overdue accounts
  • Review contract documents for billing requirements or follow up with customer to ensure correct documentation
  • Ensure change orders are signed, returned and saved in proper folder
  • Answer customer and project manager AR inquiries
  • Complete job cost transfers approved by Controller
  • Assist in preparation of internal/external audits
  • Review and understand owner contracts
  • Research questions to determine the issue, and what, if any corrective action is required to resolve to prevent future occurrences
  • Process quarterly write-offs approved by Controller
  • Process monthly Washington State Sales Tax and quarterly B&O tax filings for Controller to review
  • Complete miscellaneous accounting and administrative projects

Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
  • 1-2 years' accounts receivable and/or general accounting experience required, an emphasis on billing/invoicing desired
  • Associate degree (AA) in Business, Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Construction industry experience, with the ability to read and understand contract language and terms preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to take initiative to solve problems and have a professional approach
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex issues
  • Capable of working independently, multi-tasking and prioritizing to accomplish goals and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with MS Excel/Word/Outlook
  • Experience with automated accounting and construction management software preferred
