We are seeking a Regional Safety Supervisor to join our team:
- Evaluating General Foreperson’s:
- Knowledge of safe work practices & OSHA compliance
- Active management of the LCTT
- Ability to identify and address unsafe behaviors
- Ability to conduct quality SBAs
- Communication skills with regard to conducting meaningful/interesting safety meetings and safety training sessions
- Uniformity and implementation of the region disciplinary policy.
- Implements the General Foreperson’s orientation and mentoring program.
- Evaluating Foreperson’s:
- Knowledge of safe work practices
- Knowledge of 4 step training method
- Execution of Job Briefings
- Active management of the LCTT
- Ability to identify and address unsafe behaviors
- Implements “New Foreperson” orientation
- Conducts 6 SBAs per week
- Observing and correcting unsafe acts and at-risk behavior.
- Identifying of jobsite hazards.
- Observing and reporting on proper work techniques in accordance with the LCTT and Region Policy Manual.
TRAINING
Ensures and assists the General Forepersons in implementing:
- Tree Felling
- Vehicle Loss Prevention Program (VLPP).
- Administration of the LCTT
- First Aid/CPR certification classes.
- Lift School taught by regional or corporate safety personnel.
- Job Briefing training
INCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS
Oversee and participate in incident investigations
- Personally investigates all High Exposure (HE) Incidents involving electrical contact, tree felling, a fall from a tree, chainsaw cut, or preventable vehicle crash.
- Immediately contact his assigned the Safety Director to report all “Lost Time” incidents and provide the required reporting forms within the timelines per CGIM.
- Encourages the reporting and monitoring of all “Near Miss” incidents
- Regarding other incidents, the RSS must:
- Review reports and ensure that appropriate documentation is complete and filed.
- Ensure the investigation reaches the main contributing factors.
- Ensure recommendations are appropriate for the causes.
- Ensure injuries are properly classified according to OSHA rules.
- Ensure communications to Safety Director are completed.
Monitors and reviews current claims.
- Works with Home Office claims examiner and region insurance adjuster on light duty positions available.
- Provides monthly updates to RM regarding all regional workers compensation claims and OSHA recordable incidents
- Establishes a working relationship with local physicians.
- Contacts doctors with job descriptions for modified duty.
- Works with Claims Department to question reserves return to work status on current claims surveillance, etc.
COMMUNICATIONS
- Contacts assigned Senior Corporate Safety Supervisor weekly and reviews weekly activities, questions, concerns, problem areas, etc.
- Advises Region Manager on trends within his/her region so they can take appropriate action.
- Assist in planning and conducting regular scheduled GF/Foreperson training meetings.
- Assist in the preparation of the Employee Safety Committee Meeting
- Actively participates in safety teleconference calls as scheduled.
REPORTING
- Oversees the data collection, input, and distribution of reports of statistical information gained from the SBA reports.
- Works with the Region Office to monitor files for compliance with required documentation as specified by corporate and region policy.
- Consults with the Region Manager, to help establish and implement regional safety goals.
- Provides safety coverage on emergency response work when requested by Corporate or the Region Manager.
Minimum Requirements
- Prior safety experience required
- Knowledgeable in OSHA record keeping requirements
- Knowledgeable in OSHA 1910.269 and ANSI Z133
- Multilingual; Spanish and English is required. Must be able to read, write and comprehend written and verbal communication in English and Spanish.
- Travel required
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite (including PowerPoint)
- Must be able to safely and legally drive an approved company vehicle
- Must have a valid driver’s license – CDL preferred
- Must be able to communicate and handle confrontations professionally
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test, MVR check and background check as necessary
