Job Title: General Laborer
Reports to: Division Manager
Summary/Objective:
Ideal candidate will be working under direct supervision as they perform a variety of day-to-day activities in an organized manner. Daily activities include organizing and preparing materials, unloading and loading materials, and operating tools and machinery. Assists with daily tasks, as guided by experienced mechanics and helpers.
Essential Functions:
- Under direct supervision, performs skilled trades’ duties, to include inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
- Assists with set up of tools and equipment
- Furnishes experienced technicians with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
- Cleans work area and restocks supplies and materials as necessary
- Assists in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and devices
- Uses knowledge of basic tools and materials
- Polices the grounds regularly for trash and debris
- Works safely and complies with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations and procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Required:
- 6-months work experience; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Possess basic math skills and the ability to read measurements
- Must be proficient and organized multi-tasking in a fast paced environment without easily getting frustrated
- Ability to interact and have positive working relationships with all levels of the organization, and external customers
- Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)
- Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
- Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned, to include working varying schedules that may require extended hours (evenings, weekends and holidays) and require client-specific safety standards
The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work Environment:
- May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
- May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
- May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights
Physical Demands:
- This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
- While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
Travel:
- May require travel (typically not overnight)
Preferred:
- Previous construction experience
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
- Prior military experience
