We are adding a Clinical NICU Specialist to our sales team in the Northeastern territory.
This position is in our Medela Breastfeeding U.S. line of business.

Ideal Key Clinical NCIU Specialist Candidate:
- Strong nursing background in NICU; RN licensure preferred
- Clinical management and/or leadership role experience in the NICU strongly preferred
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment
- Preferred experience with Medela professional products
- Ability to communicate and effective sell in a highly technical environment with a broad spectrum of healthcare professionals consisting of Neonatologist, hospital administration, nurses, and lactation consultants on product technology and research information
- Flexibility in working style with customers and colleagues
- Adaptable to changes in the industry and company direction
- Ability to put forward science proven recommendations with customers
- 2-5 years of sales experience
- Strong aptitude for supporting a sales team
- Geographically located near an International Airport
Clinical NICU Specialist Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field is required
- 2-5 years’ experience in sales or related role is required
- Clinical experience in the NICU: Dietician, Clinical Nurse Specialist/Educator, Feeding Interventionist (OT/ST), Infection Control; RN or BSN
- NICU RN licensure preferred
- IBCLC is a plus
- Travel 50%
Clinical NICU Specialist Job Details:
- Responsible for the sales expansion of Medela’s penetration into the NICU market within a specified group of targeted accounts and territory
- Responsible for working cross functionally with local sales reps, sales managers, education, and marketing to generate new revenue into the NICU market
- Establish a foundation of strong business relationships including KOL’s with product awareness within the NICU departments of targeted accounts and territory that provides a route to market and implementation of new products in the future
- Strive to achieve, maintain, and expand contacts within specific professional customer organizations
- Make contact at all levels and with all groups, which might influence current and future buying decisions
- Responsible for growth of key target accounts toward goal over prior year, Integrated Delivery Networks, system deals, and contribute to beta testing sites within respective region
- Requires execution of all strategic NICU sales programs and initiatives
- Responsible for implementing specific NICU sales training models both regionally and nationally
- Responsible for achieving a minimum budget in new sales of existing products and new products into the NICU sales market with the expectation of achieving target goals
- Proactively seek new methods, sales tools, and clinical sales aides for achieving greater penetration into the NICU sales market and related professional groups
- Maintain the highest degree of product knowledge through continuing study, including characteristics, quality, engineering, competitive advantages, customer applications, features, benefits and proof sources
- Study, leverage, and articulate current and relevant research to healthcare professionals and hospital administration
- Share subject matter learning expertise cross functionally throughout the organization and with customer base to drive value and unique industry insights, market drivers, research, and best practices
- Planning:
- Plan account travel and sales call strategies
- Concentrate on major and strategic NICU accounts
- Preplan sales calls; review background information, collaboratively set call objectives, and define selling strategies in synergy with regional sales consultants and sales management
- Submit regular objectives, action plans, and sales projections for designated NICU territory
- Servicing and follow-up:
- Translate learning’s and tools to broad sales force within the areas of responsibility
- Responsible for implementing training tools and programs in the respective territory and nationally
- Follow up to make sure customer requests/problems are satisfactorily resolved in synergy with local sales consultant if needed
- Communications and reporting:
- Provide ongoing feedback and competitive intelligence to National Sales Director Enteral Feeding on the effectiveness of sales tactics and strategies, and marketing tools including suggestions for improvements and/or enhancements
- Provide feedback and insight for education and sales collateral in collaboration with the education division, Marketing, and Integrated Marketing Communications
- Work with NICU Sales team to continually track and monitor target account growth metrics
- Submit required expense reports by the end of each month
- Monthly feedback and collaboration with Regional Sales Manager on progress of target accounts
- Field surveillance: Serves as the eyes and ears of the company within assigned territory by observing, appraising, and reporting on competitive activities, price developments, customer plans, product trends, new product potentials, feedback on prototypes, market trends, and related matters
- Mentoring and Training
- Prepare, collaborate, and contribute to Medela’s greater NICU training programs to include, but not limited to: Rest of world needs, US industry training curriculum(s), customer and key opinion leader platforms, and webinars
- Mentor and train one on one in with field sales consultants, Regional Sales Managers, and new hires on leading NICU industry knowledge and navigating the hospital sales strategy
- Compliance:
- Employee must meet vendor compliance demands of accounts within given territory. This includes but not limited to: RepTrax, VendorMate, Status Blue, VCS, etc.
- Complies with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Follows all Company rules and regulations, including health and safety rules
