Job Summary

Looking for a motivated, positive, self-starting individual with prior experience in leadership, management, operations or sales in the Electric and Gas Utility Industry in California and broader West Coast who can build relationships with clients, present risks and solutions, and close meaningful deals.  Further, someone who has experience building business partnerships in adjacent industries to bring additional value to their clients.  This job provides the right individual an opportunity to create significant value for clients thereby helping people and organizations survive and thrive in the face of emergencies and disasters.  The role will be based in California.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Advertising, or related discipline
  • Overall experience: 7+ years with California Electric and Gas Utility Companies

Primary Responsibilities & Scope

  • Motivate customers and prospects, specifically California Electric and Gas Utility Companies, to engage in contracts that will provide guaranteed fuel programs for organizations who have a mission critical need to service their clients effectively and safely.
  • Ability to build meaningful business partnership with generator companies such as Generac, Kohler or CAT to create additional value specifically to California Electric and Gas Utility Companies, and secondarily to other utility companies on the West Coast.
  • Use the power of social and in-person networking to reach the corporate decision makers who are responsible for maintaining operational uptime.
  • Build trust with customers and prospects and sell them much need emergency fuel solutions.
  • Articulate risks in a factual, yet emotionally motivating way, so that people understand how they can manage these issues better.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Ability to articulate problems and solutions verbally and in writing to stakeholders in the corporate suite, facilities/operations/engineering and IT.
  • Strong brand ambassador.
  • Role ideally based in greater Bay Area of California working from the candidate’s home.
  • Travel primarily within the state of California, the entire West Coast on a limited basis, and Houston & Michigan for Corporate meetings.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Advertising, or related discipline.
  • Overall experience in working with California Electric and Gas Utility companies: 7+ years minimum.
  • Overall experience building business partnerships in adjacent industries to bring additional value to their clients.
  • Preferred experience:
    • Sold to or worked in a senior management level for Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), Southern California Edison (SCE), San Diego Gas & Electric (SDGE).
    • Worked for the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) as an energy advisor to California Electric and Gas Utility companies.
    • Sold to or worked in a management position for a generator company such as a Generac, Kohler or CAT
  • Ability to conduct business development from the ground up or the top down within a corporate structure.
  • Strong learning skills and worth ethic.

  • Self-starter, self-motivated, sense of urgency, trustworthy, well organized, ability to achieve goals, ability to focus and pay attention detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including proposal writing and presentation skills.
  • Sense of urgency and professional follow through.
  • Proficient skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Ability to connect key concepts and ideas with implementation into daily tasks and projects.
  • Excellent skills in organization, prioritization, time management, and problem-solving.
