Job Summary:

Lafayette Group is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual to support strategic communications for a federal client. This position will involve developing communications strategies and work products on a variety of topics; coordinating media/public affairs, supporting internal/external stakeholder engagement, and various social media support tasks.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support messaging efforts for internal and external stakeholders to create an understandable and compelling narrative so that decision-makers can readily understand complex topics; messaging products include speeches and talking points for client executives, as well as articles, newsletters, announcements, status reports, fact sheets, and presentations
  • Develop and implement internal and external outreach tactics and activities to raise awareness, visibility, and adoption of key federal policies and programs
  • Research and recommend appropriate communications, public affairs actions or messaging related to key issues impacting client
  • Collaborate with graphic designers on visual and multimedia storytelling
  • Work directly with program managers, stakeholders, and others to assess, plan, coordinate, and conduct activities related to project milestones
  • Build strong relationships with internal customers and clients

 Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience related to communications, marketing, or public relations
  • Strong writing abilities and experience designing and developing written work products in a variety of formats (e.g., presentations, publications)
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal skills, including interfacing effectively with a broad range of people and roles
  • Experience and competency using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects, provide task management support, and have strong organizational skills
  • BA or BS degree related to communications, marketing, or public relations
  • Ability to attain a U.S. government public trust

Additional/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing consultant support for a federal government client
  • MA or MS degree related to communications, marketing, or public relations
  • Knowledge of information security/cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Existing DHS Suitability

 

This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
