Museum Interactors- (PT) 

Become a Museum Interactor! Assist with our visitor engagement at the Washington Pavilion! Be a part of working in our museum spaces--the Kirby Science Discover Center and Visual Arts Center, to provide a positive visitor experience. Facilitate visitor learning through exhibit engagement, program presentation, and visitor interaction. Interactors are responsible for monitoring the condition, cleanliness and operation of exhibits and art exhibitions, the CineDome films and other public areas. 

*Available hours are days, evenings, weekends and Holidays- very flexible scheduling based on what you are interested in and based on experience, starting pay $11/hr.

What you get to do! 

* Provide excellent customer service in welcoming and engaging with museum guests to enhance their overall experience and fun during their visit.

* Monitor patrons to maintain a safe environment, encourage appropriate behavior, and pro-actively assist in enhancing guest experience.

* Teach science and art concepts to visitors of all ages in a fun, understandable way through informal programming, including activities, demonstrations and tours.

* Be knowledgeable of all Washington Pavilion exhibits, films, programs, and other amenities to help answer visitor questions.

* Participate in daily opening and closing procedures for the museum spaces.

* Take tickets for CineDome films, monitor audience during screening, and work with department to ensure CineDome operation.

* Monitor the condition and operation of exhibits and the CineDome to report and/or correct any issues.

* Serve as support to floor coordinators, incoming field trips and birthday party hosts. Serve as handler to the Pavilion’s mascot, Radley Rex. Serve as a guide for group visits and provide orientation to school field trips.

What you need - qualifications!

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Fun, energetic and outgoing personality. Playfully professional. Manifest enthusiastic self-motivation
  • Experience in an interpretation, education, art/art education and/or museum setting preferred.
  • Coursework in related areas of study preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to present innovative programs and activities.
  • Possess competent computer skills.
  • Communicate effectively to a wide range of team members and audiences
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibit impressive organizational skills and flexibility
  • Willingness to gain knowledge and experience in program evaluation and interpretation methodologies
  • Physical ability to move throughout the entirety of the Washington Pavilion building, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs frequently, bend, reach, and lift up to 30 pounds.
