Museum Interactors- Birthday Party Hosts (PT)
Become a birthday party host to serve as a member of the museums team and create memories for families to cherish! This part-time position is responsible for being the cheerful face of the Pavilion by providing a high-quality birthday party experience for each family leading fun learning activities for birthday parties. A host must be an energetic educator with a positive attitude and have experience working with children. Preference will be given to those with experience in events or education within the fields of elementary education, visual art, performance art and science. Hosts must demonstrate leadership qualities and be organized, positive, and able to work independently with diverse groups of people in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Hourly rate of pay is $11-$12.00/hour depending on qualifications and experience.

* Act as a Washington Pavilion liaison to all party participants and to the local community.
* Arrive early to to set up for the birthday party with decorations and appropriate activity materials. Greet the parents warmly and wish the birthday child a very happy birthday upon arrival.
* Be enthusiastic, well-mannered and friendly to all participants.
* Familiarize self with 5 different birthday party activities and lesson plans to establish a comfort level with teaching any of the 5 chosen activities.
* Instruct and lead birthday party activities as outlined in the lesson plans, keeping in mind that birthday parties should be fun, engaging experiences.
* Clean-up all materials and put away in the designated places.
* Complete brief reports after each party to be given to the museums manager that give an evaluation of the party, outline any special circumstances, and help us to replenish supplies and improve party flow.
* Flexibility to serve as substitute host occasionally throughout the year.
What you need - qualifications!
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Fun, energetic, positive and outgoing personality. Playfully professional.
- Experience/related coursework in a theater, education, art/art education and/or museum setting preferred.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Communicate effectively to a wide range of team members and audiences.
- Demonstrate the ability to present innovative programs and activities.
- Demonstrate effective leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to lead and supervise children.
- Exhibit impressive organizational skills and flexibility.
- Manifest enthusiastic self-motivation and ability to use positive momentum to accomplish tasks.
- Teaching experience/coursework and curriculum development in informal education is a plus.
- This position is PT and will require hosts to commit to working 1 or 2 weekends each month on Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 11 - 5pm during the school year (Sept-May). During each set of weekend hours, up to 4 parties could be hosted.
- If parties are not booked, hosts may be trained to perform duties assigned to Museum Interactors
- Parties are available to be scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays at 12am and 2pm.
- Physical ability to move throughout the entirety of the Washington Pavilion building, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs frequently, bend, reach, and lift up to 30 pounds.
