HR Works, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Payroll Manager interested in part-time hours (approximately 16-hours per week).  Some hours will be on-site at the client's Elmira manufacturing facility and some hours can be done remotely.  If you are looking for that flexibility and have talent in the payroll/finance area, we would be very interested in talking to you about this opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee payroll and ensure accurate and timely processing
  • Respond to department and employee inquiries and escalated questions, such as tax, corporate tax, leave of absence, deductions, etc.
  • Research data inconsistencies and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain organized and complete electronic files
  • Import data and run various reports as requested
  • Assist with researching payroll related laws and trends
  • Identify payroll system updates and impact to client processes
  • Work on special projects for clients if needed (benefits, leave administration and compensation)
  • Work in a team environment (interfacing with finance) to ensure all payroll is processed accurately and on-time assisting team members with questions and training as needed
  • Audit payrolls prepared by two (2) staff members 
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, strong administrative and analytical skills
  • Reliable with a high degree of confidentiality and integrity
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving
  • Thrives on fast-paced environment and can adapt at prioritizing responsibilities and tasks to effectively meet deadlines
  • Personable, good listener and can effectively communicate with all staff and client types through both written and verbal means
  • Works efficiently both independently and as a member of a larger team
  • Willing and flexible to help with any urgent issues that happen to arise at the company, even if they are outside the immediate scope of the role
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Minimum 5 years of related payroll experience
  • CPP or FCP certification is preferred
  • Finance or controller experience is preferred, but not required
  • Flexibility to work 8 hours on Mondays and Tuesdays required
