We are seeking qualified candidates for an Internship in Human Resources. The ideal Intern will work in support of the HR Manager and HR Generalist to complete work related to Recruitment and Project Management. The Intern will be assigned specific responsibilities within the department throughout the internship, which will provide an opportunity to integrate academic learning with business and operational functions and familiarize them with the role of Human Resources and Operations. The intern will be required to deliver a “report-out” presentation at the end of the assignment.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field of study, or undergraduate college student who is or will be a junior at a 4-year university in the fall of 2020.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs – Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively represent the company in an ethical and professional manner and consistent with our values and mission.

Essential Functions:

Under the direction of HR, will assist with projects to include recruitment support, pre and post hire activities for onboarding, community outreach, compliance, special projects and process improvement initiatives:

Recruitment:

  • Review and revise (as needed) job descriptions with hiring manager.
  • Prepare and post position in ATS.
  • Review applications and candidate qualifications.
  • Prescreen applicants as requested.
  • Schedule onsite and phone interviews; book conference room and prepare interview team.
  • Attend interview as a representative of Jamar and needed compliance items
  • Update ATS throughout all application steps.
  • Assist with pre-employment screening (background check/drug screen).

Pre- and post-hire activities:

  • Meet new employee and complete first-day paperwork (I9, direct deposit and tax forms, self ID forms, wage theft notification (MN only), etc.
  • Work with LMS coordinator to assign on-line orientation
  • Work with hiring manager on building access/fob, workstation, etc.

Community Outreach

  • Help develop outreach network for the Green Bay, WI and Bismarck, ND geographic area; conduct online research to find organizations and contact names that work directly with veterans, the disabled, women and minorities, LGBTQ, etc. in finding meaningful employment.
  • Execute, upload and track outreach efforts in excel spreadsheet; includes reaching out to prior year contacts for updates and information.
  • Attend job fairs as HR Representative to promote EOE for Jamar.

Wellness

  • Help develop and implement wellness programs focusing on employee engagement and participation; drive support from management and supervisors.
  • Update Wellness SharePoint page each month with new information, resources and materials from APi Group.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Primarily a stationary position for a considerable portion of the day (sitting and/or standing). The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Must be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
  • Travel to project sites, or other APi Group company locations as needed.
  • The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in plant environment.
  • PPE required when in the plant, yard or construction areas include:
    • Hard Hat
    • Safety Glasses / Goggles
    • Steel-toed Boots
    • High Visibility Vest
    • Hearing Protection (designated areas)
    • Gloves
    • Personal Fall Arrest Harness
