Prep Cook- Leonardo's Cafe  (FT) 

The Leonardo’s Café Prep Cook is primarily responsible for providing assistance to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef with food prep and kitchen duties as assigned.  The Prep Cook is also responsible for working on the café lunch line during operating hours and assisting Food and Beverage Managers in other food and beverage areas as needed. Full time, $12.00+/hr (potentially more depending on experience) with full benefits, 40 hour per week position - hours vary with catering events to include days, nights and weekends. The ideal candidate must be flexible with scheduling.

What you will get to do!

  • Perform food preparation for lunch operations and catering events.
  • Assist with putting away food and beverage deliveries and ensuring proper rotation of stock.
  • Assist with plating food and working action stations during catering events.
  • Assist with food prep on the lunch line during operating hours. Must know the lunch menu and be able to prepare the items accurately.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Help ring up customer orders using POS system, deliver meals, bus tables and assist with café clean up as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area including proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Responsible for following proper safety and sanitation procedures and complying with Health Department safety codes.
  • Ability to perform opening and closing procedures in the kitchen.
  • Learn all kitchen functions pertaining to daily café business and special events.
  • Ability to operate all types of kitchen equipment including slicer, fryer, steamer, tilt skillet, convections ovens, gas burners, Alto Shams, etc.
  • Assist with washing dishes as needed.
  • Assist with menu planning
  • Follow recipes and portion control procedures to minimize waste and aid in maintaining food cost percentages.
  • Must learn daily City Center operations in order to cover duties when needed.
  • Assist with other duties in food and beverage areas such as bartending, serving, event set-up, etc as needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Chefs or Food and Beverage Managers.

  • Familiar with basic culinary concepts
  • Effectively manage time and resources, able to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Positive attitude & a team player
  • Tolerance of diversity and respectful of all coworkers and customers
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Experience in the restaurant industry
  • Ability to handle and reconcile sums of money.
  • Ability to operate a POS system
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to walk, stoop, bend and climb stairs throughout the facility.
  • This position requires physical agility. Ability to use hands and have dexterity to perform prep cook duties.
