Job Title: Assistant Fabrication Manager

Reports to: Fabrication Manager

Summary/Objective:  The assistant fabrication manager will assist with various technical and administrative tasks including LEAN principles and purchasing. This position provides an excellent opportunity to experience manufacturing in a commercial/industrial market from project initiation through finished product. In this position you will work closely with all related departments to support company objectives within a team based hands on environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with members of the fabrication team to develop and support processes that track and optimize productivity to ensure an effective return on assets
  • Presents performance/production findings, production schedules, and cost reports to our fabrication team in order to improve production efficiencies and on-time deliverables
  • Assists fabrication supervision with developing and monitoring work loading, manpower reports, and project cost reports
  • Assists with purchasing and billing as per project specifications
  • Communicates with vendors to ensure the quality and timeliness of materials
  • Stands in to provide secondary support for the fabrication manager
  • Works closely with all related departments to support company objectives within a team based hands on environment
  • Participates in jobsite coordination meetings, job walks, and field verification as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, and 1+ years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferably in a construction environment)
  • Possesses skill sets that will enable and drive continuous process improvement
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate/advanced skill level in Microsoft Office products including Word, Project, Excel, Outlook and PDF Editing software (Bluebeam)
  • Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
  • Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned, to include working varying schedules that may require extended hours (evenings, weekends and holidays) and require client-specific safety standards
  • The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:

Work Environment:

  • Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
  • Position may require visits to the construction site or jobsite assignments

Physical Demands:

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines

Travel:

  • May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred:

  • Experience with CAD software is a plus
  • Prior experience in a construction environment
  • Prior military service a plus
