Kraemer North America will be recruiting on multiple campuses this Fall for Future Field Engineer Intern candidates to join our team for our Summer 2021 construction season.
Kraemer North America is currently recruiting for Field Engineer Interns for our 2021 Summer construction season! Our recruitment is focused on locating students in Construction Management, Construction Engineering and Civil Engineering programs that are self-motivated, energetic and have a passion to learn more about a career in the fast pace and exciting highway heavy construction field. Our opportunities will be available on a variety of projects in Denver, CO; Duluth, MN; Seattle, WA; Salt Lake City, UT, Minneapolis, MN; Plain, WI and the Madison, WI area.
Field Engineer Interns will be exposed to a wide variety of construction related activities including scheduling, cost controls, subcontractor/supplier management, safety, formwork design, quality control, estimating, and labor and material management. Interns will work closely with experienced Field Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers and Superintendents of Kraemer North America.
Responsibilities
- Assist project management in coordinating resources, schedules and subcontractors for on-site engineering activities
- Assist in monitoring cost controls and procuring permanent material and supplies
- Coordinate engineering requirements with the project superintendent
- Track and coordinate all project submittals (i.e. fabrication and shop drawings, )
- Prepare periodic pay estimates & quantity reporting
- Track project labor and equipment trends
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly cost-to-complete reports
- Check subgrade prior to Kraemer mobilization to area
- Assist with Form Layout/Grade
- Assist with Environmental Compliance – document control and follow up
- Take and document site photographs
- Coordinate TCS for crew work
- Verify and log quantities installed
- Conduct field quality control as needed
- Participate in TEAM meetings
- Recognize and identify hazards
- Review subcontractor safety operations
- Identify and procure safety resources required prior to start or work
- Perform site safety and risk assessments; incorporate safety needs into Work Activity Plan (WAP)
- Generate Look Ahead and Flash reports
- Generate WAPs
- Complete daily journals, quality control log & binder
- Calculate and/or verify concrete orders
- Complete COC submittals
- Draft RFIs
- Participate in crew/schedule review with Superintendents
- Update As-Built Plans
- Assist with site orientations
Qualifications
- Pursuing bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Efficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Team player with the ability to work independently
- Passion for safety and construction
- Previous experience working with construction software preferred
- Previous experience working with AGTEK/Auto CAD preferred
