POSITION GOAL

 

The Cook is responsible for food preparation for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the North Benton Rural Senior Dining. The cook is also responsible for kitchen operations during the absence of the Head Cook.

 

SCHEDULE & WAGE

 

Week 1 Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 2:30 pm/Week 2 Sunday-Friday 8:00 am-3:30 pm (varied schedule) 72 hours bi-weekly; $13.18 hour

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

  1. Ensures compliance, program records, and documentation required for HACAP programs, CACFP, and funding requirements.  
  2. Follows Food Service Establishment Food Codes, CACFP, and HACAP policies and procedures regarding the maintenance of a sanitary and organized kitchen.
  3. It is responsible for food preparation according to provided menus, including special diets, using standardized recipes and quantity cooking techniques as well as commercially prepared foods.
  4. Responsible for ensuring that mealtimes are observed with food being served on time and at the proper temperature.
  5. Supports the Head Cook with the inventory, storage, and unboxing of delivered food and supplies.
  6. Packages food for delivery and servicing.
  7. Washes all foodservice dishes used in food preparation and serving.
  8. Performs routine cleaning tasks according to the cleaning schedule.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  1. High School Diploma or GED, or working towards obtaining GED.
  2. One year of foodservice experience.

  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
  5. Basic math skills.

  1. Complete Bloodborne Pathogen (Universal Precautions) within ten (10) days of employment and update annually.
  2. Complete ServSafe online Food Handler Certificate of Achievement within ten (10) days of employment and update every three (3) years.
