ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Most of the work needs for this position are local to our Boca Raton office; but there are opportunities to work in other areas of the U.S. as well as the Caribbean. Some of the key technical responsibilities for this position include one or more of the following:

  • Supporting and/or leading site assessment and remediation projects, including contamination assessments, feasibility studies, remedy design, and remedy implementation under local, state and federal regulatory programs.
  • Supporting and/or leading projects involving: vapor intrusion assessment/mitigation, redevelopment of brownfields sites, and litigation support to attorney clients on geology matters.
  • Involvement with hydrogeologic interpretations/evaluations associated with groundwater pumping, stormwater management, and contaminant transport.
  • Participating in environmental due diligence efforts involving Phase I/II environmental site assessments and valuation of identified environmental liabilities.
  • Occasionally supporting regulatory compliance services associated with the Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and/or other regulations as needed.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, CPR training and medical monitoring, all paid for by Geosyntec.   • Fieldwork: commonly less than 20%
  • Overnight travel: commonly less than 20%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, earth science, geological engineering or an aligned discipline. [required]
  • Advanced degree in geology or an aligned discipline. [preferred]
  • Ability to obtain a Florida P.G. registration. [required]

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 7 years of prior experience working on sites with contaminated soil and groundwater; or equivalent combination of education and experience.[required]
  • Experience working under risk-based corrective action paradigm. [required]
  • Project management experience. [preferred]
  • Experience with ArcView, Microsoft Access, EVS and/or commercially available groundwater flow/contaminant transport modeling software. [preferred]
  • Prior OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training. [preferred]
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. [required]
