Candidates must be a Massachusetts Licensed Site Professional (LSP). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We expect that you will work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. The successful candidate will develop new work by building and growing their external network, manage projects and staff, and contribute to solutions their own technical strengths. Some of the task-level or project management responsibilities you will be asked to do include the following:

  • Business development, including bringing in new clients and obtaining repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal preparation, and developing and implementing a business development plan;
  • Participation in external industry groups to maintain high visibility as a go-to LSP;
  • Management and mentoring staff, including development and motivation of aspiring LSPs in navigating regulatory strategy and acquiring licensing;
  • Contribution to the overall development and growth of the New England branch;
  • Development of regulatory closure plans under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP), including vapor intrusion evaluations and Method 3 Risk Characterizations; Acting as LSP-of-Record on existing and new projects in the Firm;
  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects; budgeting and budget management; and adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability ;
  • Reviewing and managing written document production and data evaluation; and Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.

Here are some other things you should know about this LSP position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA/MSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Some fieldwork and overnight travel: May be required.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field of science (e.g., geology, environmental science, etc.) or Engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred). (required)
  • Advanced degree in a field of science appropriate for the field of soil, air and groundwater remediation consulting. (preferred)
  • Professional certification (LSP). (required)
  • Professional certification (Professional Geologist or Engineer). (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 15 years of direct environmental consulting experience in the New England marketplace; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Detailed understanding of MassDEP regulations as well as USEPA regulations. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (required) Proven leadership skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and current refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
