The Janitor/Cleaner’s primary responsibility will be to maintain the cleanliness of the common areas in Mainline operated buildings and to complete move in/out unit cleans where required.

Key Responsibilities:

Janitorial: (90%)

  • Perform general cleaning duties within Mainline operated buildings – common areas
  • Perform thorough move-in/out unit cleans as required
  • Follow prescribed cleaning roster (developed in consultation with Community Director)
  • Complete tasks in accordance with the Mainline service standard
  • Communicate deficiencies and issues to the Community Director so that problems can be resolved in a timely fashion
  • Support and work with the Maintenance Technician on tasks as needed
  • Operate cleaning machinery and tools in a safe manner.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow manufacturer instruction when using cleaning products

Safety: (10%)

  • Work with the Community Director and Corporate Safety Coordinator to prepare safety documentation as required including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
  • Work with the Mainline leadership team to ensure that the worksite is in compliance with the provisions of the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act.

The successful candidate will have:

  • High School Grade 12 Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated knowledge and background in residential property cleaning
  • Basic math skills
  • Good communication ability
  • Well-organized and apt in problem-solving
  • Attention to detail
  • Residential, Commercial, High-rise, or Civil construction experience would be considered at asset.
  • CSTS/SiteREADYBC and WHMIS would be an asset
  • First Aid training preferred
