Geosyntec is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to support project needs in the Midwest, based out of our St. Louis Missouri office. You will work on a variety of geotechnical, geoenvironmental, and civil engineering projects performing geotechnical analyses, supporting civil site design for industrial waste facilities, supporting field investigation programs, and providing construction quality assurance services. Projects will include opportunities to contribute from the conceptual design stage through construction; all while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Geotechnical analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, material characterization, liquefaction, and foundation capacity;
- Fieldwork including the oversight and logging of borings, cone penetration tests, piezometer installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor management, and management of health and safety practices;
- Support of construction quality assurance services, including monitoring contractors on geoenvironmental projects, preparing daily field reports, and coordinating with staff in the offices;
- General civil engineering design and site layout;
- Support of construction cost estimating, development of project specifications and bid forms, and the development of construing quality assurance plans;
- Support project execution, under the direction of a project manager, by tracking project budgets and schedules; and
- Support business development and marketing efforts by becoming involved in regional professional societies and publishing technical papers and presentations.

- Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. - Overnight travel: Up to 25%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or geological engineering. (required)
- Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering. (strongly preferred)
- Registration as an Engineer Intern or Engineer in Training. (preferred).
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated strong interest in civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering. (required)
- Some related experience such as internships or co-op experience, project experience involving field investigations including geotechnical investigation programs, groundwater and surface water monitoring, construction quality assurance and/or construction management services. (preferred)
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). (required)
- Experience with Microsoft Access and Project. (preferred)
- Experience using common geotechnical software (GeoStudio, SLIDE, Settle3D, FLAC, PLAXIS, RSpile, LPILE, APILE). (preferred)
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D software. (preferred)
- Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
- Ability to obtain OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
