Summary

The Field Safety Technician will provide the primary first level oversight on projects to which he/she are assigned. The Field Safety Technician is responsible for making sure OGT personnel have a clear understanding of the federal, client and company requirements to safely execute their job. The Field Safety Technician will serve as mentor to site leadership and field employees.

  • Provide full-time support in the field to assure operations are planned and conducted in a safe and professional manner. 
  • Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to Safety personnel involved in our projects regarding safety and health issues and work practices.  Identify unique HS&E issues by project, before the project begins, for resolution.
  • Continuously promote Safety Culture in a professionally positive, culturally inclusive manner. 
  • Assist on incident investigations. 
  • Provide basic first aid to OGT employees.
  • Interface with OGT field leadership on site HS&E issues and coordinate pro-active measures.
  • Interface with Client site representatives on HS&E issues and coordinate pro-active measures.
  • Coordinate and mentor project HS&E walk-through assessments.  Cover the findings of the walk-through with OGT site leadership.  Follow up by documenting the items which require immediate correction.
  • Periodically distribute information and updating memos relative to safety, including assisting with safety memorandums. 
  • Assist Project Superintendent with daily safety meetings.
  • Review Incident/Accident investigation reports (including Near Misses) and recommend corrective measures as appropriate.
  • Report to Corporate HS&E periodically regarding the Project HS&E Program progress, problems, and objectives.
  • Organize and conduct safety training.
  • Fully utilize the assistance of our insurance carrier, OSHA, safety organizations, and other resources.

Required Skills

  • Associates degree or higher in Occupational Safety. May be substituted with current OSHA 510 & 500, or OSHA 511 & 501
  • MUST be Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • 2+ years safety experience required in one of the following Industries:
  • Commercial Underground Construction
  • Underground Utilities
  • Oil and Gas
  • Waste
  • Equipment Rentals
  • Fluent knowledge of federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations. 
  • Ability to attain proficiency with unfamiliar regulations quickly is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, leadership, mentoring, Training Hands-on Field Experience
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Knowledge of industry safety training
