FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Hourly Base Pay: $16.00-$18.00 (+.50 cents per hour swing shift differential)
InHarvest Inc., a premier U.S. producer and procurer of some of the world’s most distinctive grains, beans and legumes for the food service, retail and industrial food markets is seeking a Food Safety Technician in our Woodland, CA facility. The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for performing quality checks on incoming raw ingredients, production in process and finished product on a daily basis. Additional quality related projects will be assigned. All analysis and issues are to be communicated to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze pre-shipment samples, incoming raw materials, and finished products according to USDA standards and training; and compare results to specifications to ensure product quality. Document and report the results to the QA Supervisor, flagging any issues or concerns.
- Perform sensory/organoleptic analysis on all ingredients/products; providing comments on smell, taste, texture and color.
- Inspect and obtain samples from control points on the production/packaging line and perform various quality tests. Document and interpret results. Stop production if needed and communicate information to all managers for follow-up action.
- Communicate and follow-up with operations regarding production issues and quality concerns. Communicate to and work with operators or warehouse personnel to segregate and isolate products that do not meet InHarvest quality standards or may have food safety concerns.
- Physically obtain samples from production lines to analyze and/or pull samples from retain shelves to review. Sample organization, storage and data maintenance required.
- Data input into the computer to report summary to managers. Paperwork filling and organizing.
- Perform individual or group projects assigned by Managers.
- Arrange and ship samples to outside laboratories, headquarters and potential customers.
- Perform all work in accordance with company standards and established safety procedures.
- Other tasks, as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Associates degree (A.A) or equivalent from a college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and related training in the Food industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be reliable and a team player with ability to work well others
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees
- Able to work with little supervision
- Able to work any shift and overtime when needed
- Knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP, Good Lab Practices and OSHA Safety Rules
- Knowledge of manufacture environment, lab equipment and practices
- Proficient in MS Office software including Word, Excel and Access
