The Human Resources Generalist will administer the day-to day operations of MYCON’s human resources department to ensure excellence for all human resource administration and will serve as primary back up for payroll processes and transactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Administration.

  • Administers onboarding of new hires by conducting pre-employment drug screen, background checks, and competing all paperwork.  Establish employee record in payroll and HR databases
  • Maintains employee records in all systems (payroll and benefits administration systems), ensures benefit elections for new hires are completed.
  • Assists with maintaining office badge access; set up employee record, activate and term badges as needed.
  • Administers employee status changes such as but not limited to promotions, salary changes, address changes, and terminations.
  • Serves as COBRA administrator. Assures compliance with COBRA guidelines by preparing paperwork; receives and records COBRA insurance premium payments.
  • Maintains accurate database of employee information and runs reports as needed.
  • Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Assists employees with HR related questions. Acts as main point of contact on a day to day basis.
  • Assists with interpreting policy and procedure for all employees.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures and employment/labor laws for employees by communicating and interpreting policies/procedures.
  • Monitors policies for compliance and elevates concerns to Human Resources Manager as appropriate. 
  • Administers leave of absence programs:  FMLA, personal leave, military leave, and unpaid leave.
  • Recommends new policies/changes as appropriate; updates handbooks as needed.
  • Administers health and welfare plans including enrollments and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.
  • Take strong initiative to assist with annual benefits open-enrollment process.  Learn benefit plans well to answer employee questions.
  • Organize and create calendar for career fairs for our internship program. Coordinate with management and school representatives.  Ensure marketing materials are available and on hand for career fairs.
  • Assist with the company Intern Program.  Develop Intern Orientation.
  • Responsible for employee recognition such as monthly birthday cards and annual service awards.
  • Member of MYCON Fun Committee.
  • Assists with creating human resource forms and documents and ensures they are current
  • Assists with planning company events and outings
  • Prepares content for the MYCONIAN monthly newsletter.

Payroll

  • Maintains employment and payroll records (both paper and electronic files)
  • Administers day to day payroll maintenance, including accurate and timely processing of employment record changes, garnishments, military pay, leave of absence, direct deposit information, etc.
  • Primary back-up for processing weekly and semi-monthly payroll.
  • When necessary, reviews time-entry validation and other payroll reports to verify accuracy of time-entry and resulting pay implications; follow up to ensure accurate and complete payroll entries for each pay cycle.
  • Prepares weekly and semi-monthly reports of 401(k) and timely funds the 401(k), FSA, and HSA accounts.
  • Communicate payroll and time entry policies and procedures to employees.  Research and respond to inquiries from management, employees and third parties.
  • Process time off requests and obtain appropriate approvals.  Maintain vacation calendar.
  • Answer employment verification requests.
  • Assists employees with payroll questions
  • Performs other duties and projects as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office application and use of general office equipment
  • Intermediate/Proficient knowledge of HRIS payroll system

QUALIFICATIONS

 Required skills needed but not limited to the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in human resources or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of human resources experience
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • 1-2 years experience of payroll administration
  • Experience working with HRIS, ATS, benefit admin, and performance management systems such as Paylocity, BirdDogHR, Spectrum, PlanSource.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
